“Oct 3 – Had two raids one at 6:00 A.M. and another at 9:00 P.M. 4 more alerts that night.”
The first part of this entry I found interesting was the time these raids were done. Mike wrote that they were done at “6:00 A.M and “9:00 P.M.” This is a lot different than the previous few entries, where they would take place and six or seven at night.
These times were when the soldiers would most likely be at their most vulnerable, as they probably would not be expecting them. The Japanese probably choose these times to inflict as much damage as possible.
What I also find interesting is that Mike choose not to write these in 24 – hour clock format , more commonly known as “military time”. Maybe it was easier for Mike to write it like standard time in a hurry or maybe he just preferred it.
We then move onto the final part where Mike mentions there were “4 more red alerts that night.” This day in particular had a lot more going on in terms of raid and alerts than the previous days. As for the reason, I am not sure, but this day was most likely horrible for Mike and the other soldiers.
